Alan Goldberg Releases Incidental Music EP With a Purpose

Austin, Texas – November 19, 2020 – Composer and musician Alan Goldberg has recently released his incidental music themed EP, “The Show”. The four song EP brings a fresh, jazzy flair to the long-standing tradition of incidental music – background music in plays and shows that often gets little attention. “The Show” is meant to be played either recorded or live by a jazz combo, as the background music before, during, and after a theater performance of any kind, from school performing arts productions on up. Goldberg worked remotely with talented musicians from around the country to pull together the tracks for the songs. Goldberg’s new EP release follows his four previous albums releases of piano-centered instrumental music.

With theater aficionados eagerly awaiting the reopening of Broadway until at least May 2021, they can get a taste of live theater through “The Show”. As Goldberg explains, “I composed this EP at a time when there was little going on in the way of live audience performances, but I could see and hear ‘The Show’ in my head. I know that live shows will be back stronger than ever”.

“The Show” starts out with “The Show Redux”, an upbeat introduction or theme song, “The whole EP concept came from a forty second piece of music I made as an intro for a film that wasn’t used. I turned that into “The Show Redux” and it all blossomed from there into a happy, playful, and relaxed set of music,” Goldberg explains.

Two Entr’acte – between act – pieces follow. “Intermizzion One”, an upbeat, playful song that plays during the first part of an Intermission when people jump up and move about seeking relief or refreshment. “Intermizzion One” also works well as an alternative toe-tapping theme song.

“Intermezzo Liscio”(LEE-sho) is a relaxing, ‘slinky’ song played during the last part of an intermission, a perfect accompaniment as people relax, enjoy their refreshment, chat, zone in their phone, or just rest before the performance restarts. The song re-imagines the melody from “Intermizzion One”, tying the whole intermission together.

The fourth song, “Finale Consumato” plays when the lights come up. Consumato is an Italian word meaning, “consumed”. The show is over, the night is done. The entertainment has been consumed. When the song begins, it’s a perfect accompaniment to people filing out of their rows, heading to the exit and getting on with the rest of their lives. The theater empties. It’s only those few people who decide to stay and listen who hear the song rise in intensity and become the true finale to the evening.

Goldberg has a knack for composing pieces that add the perfect atmosphere to any environment. Whether that environment is theater, TV Show, film, or a video game, Goldberg can step into the mind of the audience and create arrangements that enhance and intensify their experience.

Music for Healing on a Tired Planet

Tell us about yourself and your music

I’m a classically-trained composer. My studies include undergraduate work at Boston University, and residency as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at The University of Chicago, where I also served as the Founding Director of the university’s Studio for Electronic Music.

My writing followed a contemporary classical path for a number of years, until one year, personal and family issues demanded that I change my path in a fundamental way, and needed to set aside the musical life I had chosen.

In recent years, I have had the opportunity to do two things that have changed my life once again.

To pursue ordination as an InterFaith/InterSpiritual minister, and also to revisit the possibility of that musical life which was once so large for me in my world view. Coming out of that, my choice has been to pursue the ambient style to which I am now committed. I did so because I believed at the time, and still do … that my best path would be to write music that could support both my spirituality, my compassion for a world in need of healing, and a personal dedication to the one humanity which we are and the one planet on which we all must co-exist.

Today, the personal vision for my work is to continue to support the spiritual and holistic needs of thousands of listeners and somatic practitioners around the globe, and for that I am extremely grateful. My work on the global meditation platform Insight Timer now exceeds 8 million plays.

Talk to us more about your latest release

My latest release, “In Gratitude,” celebrates those moments where we allow ourselves to experience the grace in cherishing our present, in ways that make us feel in abundance rather than deprived.

Those moments when we feel connected to everything, with our hearts wide open. The bliss that envelops us in love and which takes us beyond whatever makes us suffer.

Simple moments. There is tremendous grace in gratitude.

What inspired you to write this release?

“In Gratitude” is the latest in a series of works that I call Watercolor Washes .

They all speak to our individual and collective need to embrace presence at the moment, as that is all we really have. In 2020, and in the midst of a global pandemic filled with loss, it is difficult to hold closely the concept of gratitude. I wanted this to be a small opportunity to embrace that, and draw comfort from those people, places, and things in our life for which we are grateful.

Describe the writing and recording process

As all of the works in this series are instrumental soundscapes, the writing process, in general, is similar from one work to the next … and that is to create an environment inside of which the listener can let go of the mind chatter which often overwhelms us, and embrace calm at the moment. ** All of my work is done in my home studio and often seeks to blur the line between orchestral and digital sound sources.**

Any plans to hit the road?

No plans to hit the road. However, my vision does include streaming multimedia presentations that cross over between music and spirituality.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

My niche, more and more, is the point at which ambient music and spirituality cross over. Even though most of my work is purely instrumental, listeners somehow find a devotional quality to it.

Who have you been listening to lately?

My listening is sporadic, eccentric, and in celebration of a diverse expression of musical talent. Artists range from contemporary classical composers such as Luciano Berio and Toru Takemitsu to the iconic fusion of artists such as John McLaughlin and Béla Fleck, to old favorites such as Frank Zappa and Eric Clapton.

Who are your biggest influences?

My biggest influences continue to be those who taught me how to think musically from a compositional perspective. The big concepts which over-arch style. Those with whom I have been fortunate enough to study: Ralph Shapey, Emmanuel Ghent, Shulamit Ran, and Joyce Mekeel … as well as that outside of a classical reference, such as Chuck Wild and Brian Eno.

Tell us about your passions

Hmm. What gets me out of bed more and more is the spiritual work to be done, and to which I am committed. Creating a world where once we realize our similarities and needs … whether they be for instance religious, social, cultural … we can be better equipped to understand and accept our differences. The roadblocks to our humanity.

What else is happening next in your world?

I’ve begun working on a number of things, but one which is near and dear to me is the first in what I hope will become a series of works which embrace these kinds of inter-spiritual differences and similarities which I’ve mentioned, and which invite both reflection and involvement on the part of the listener. That may sound rather vague, but that’s all I’ve got in the moment!

ColdAsNovember The Reclusive Producer You Never Heard Of

Atlanta, Ga — Friday, May 29th, 2020 — During his four-year stint in the U.S. Navy, Troy began an experiment with making beats, eventually leaving the military to study and develop his craft. However, his beats weren’t getting much recognition at first, and he eventually ended up writing and rapping a song of his own just to prove that his production skills were up to par. “I had a guy master it for me, and he was like, ‘Man, you might need to look at rapping because I’ve been playing it for people and they like it,’” Troy stated. From there, Troy began to focus on rapping and honing his skills.

Raised by a single mom, who also served as a preacher, Troy credits his faith in God as his reasoning for continuing to pursue his dream. “I truly do believe God is on my side, and I think my faith is the foundation of the music,” the artist admitted. “I don’t even think I would’ve tried it if my faith wasn’t so high.” Also being raised in Georgia, for the most part, gives his music that Southern, soulful kind of feel. “You mix that with [being] raised in the church, and a love for hip hop, and you’ve got my sound,” Troy said. Inspired by neo-soul artists like D’Angelo , he often uses soulful hooks on his songs. Inspired also by other hip hop artists like Big Krit, Yo Gotti, and Nipsey Hussle , specifically by their hustle as independent artists, Troy strives to remain independent and own the masters of his music.

Under his old name, Troy Preach, the artist dropped a mixtape named Human Being Musiq back in 2012, which was his “experimental project,” where he wanted to prove to others and himself that he could do this. Currently, he’s working on a new project called God Heard Me, which is set to be dropped later this summer. In terms of what listeners can expect to hear, Troy admitted that there is the growth between his first project and this upcoming one, as well as a variety of topics. “It’s more personal, I try to explain my life and my story to the best of my ability because I know it’s relatable,” he said. “[There will be] way better production, and [it will be] a more cohesive project.”

Interestingly, Troy currently balances his music with his job as a barber, something that he said has impacted his life and material. “Conversations that happen in the barbershop can be life-changing,” he admitted. “I learned a lot about life, and I’m affected by that. It gives me a lot of inspiration.” The artist believes this aspect of his life makes him more versatile and allows him to touch the people as he works behind his chair. “I think people just want to have somebody they can relate to, and somebody that ain’t afraid to be a human being,” Troy said. “The whole Hollywood aspect of the music world is very real. I’m not on that.”

As an artist, Troy simply wants to create great music, and not necessarily be in the spotlight. “I don’t see myself compromising for fame and all of that. I, more so, just want people to kind of enjoy the music” he said. The rapper doesn’t care about being “the best rapper ever” or stepping on other people to get ahead. He’s focused on uplifting people with his work. “I’m not trying to look like a star, or be a star per se,” Troy continued. “I’m just trying to use the gift God gave me because I don’t want it to go to waste.” In the future, Troy would like to own his barbershop with an in-house studio and own a label. He would also love to continue to make music, and also find new talent at showcases that he can help build them from the ground up. This artist has big ambitions, but also the talent, creativity, drive, and faith to make it happen!

Troy’s music is simply a way for him to cope in this world. It gives him the ability to express himself in ways he tends to not do openly due to his introverted nature. He’s always been a laid back reserved person and music is his way of putting his thoughts and views out there. He stays focused and balanced by just honestly paying attention to life all around him. How he feels about life, certain situations, and also listening to others. Being open to other people and their perspective on life helps you to be creative and remain inspired.

In his opinion, it just shows that he’s living while creating. These things were all goals of his. He always wanted to hear his music and it is an update on his life and what’s been on his mind. He feels as though life is about progress and growth. It reflects that he’s settling in who he is and accepting the decisions and choices he’s made throughout life up until this point. While still admitting he’s still a student to live because there is still yet so much to learn.

Don’t ever try to do or be what people expect you to do or be. Like his mother always says “To thine own self is true.” Do what you like and the rest will fall into place as need be, Lord willing.

Troy is a man of faith who simply is trying to make use of his God-given talents. He’s only here to take the limits off of life and see where these gifts can take him, no more no less.

Talk to us more about your latest release

The album “this world does not belong to us was conceived in November 2019 whilst seeing drastic changes in patterns, people, and the world surrounding me. Dreams that would come through as torments would be documented in sound, such as “Close your eyes son” were all I could see was ashes in the air and this boy’s grandfather closing his eyes to avoid seeing what was yet to hit him. “Empty grounds”, where the boy survived the chaos yet his grandfather had lost his life trying to save his grandchild. Grounds are empty and not a soul passing by. Similar to what is happening this present moment.

What inspired you to write this release?

I could say that all my inspirations come from visions, dreams and even life learned experiences, where words cannot describe the emotion behind the true canvas as sound can.

Describe the writing and recording process

It took me 4 months to fully design this album from visualization and creating the closest to what was perceived.

With the lockdown, it just gave me more time to sit around the project and focus on every note and moment to build the story.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

My purpose is to share the world messages through sound. I play the piano to give to others the emotion they need for that instance. I was born with talent. I can’t read music and all I do was self-taught throughout the years.

Who have you been listening to lately?

I have been listening to Yiruma, Ludovico Einaudi, Khatia Buniatishvili apart from other musicians like Dulce pontes, Mariza, Cuca rosetta.

I love Martial arts, flying is another major passion of mine since a child. Part of my goals would be a Paragliding course, helicopter license, Yachting. I love our doors and traveling the world to experience life. Cuisine and pastry is also another passion of mine. I grew up in the bakery field in my father’s bakery in Portugal and learned how to roll a croissant at the age of 12.

Anaya has slowly moved her style into the neo-classical from the new age, and it has really started to mature nicely, such evidence for this statement can be found on pieces like Because of You, and the powerful Once In Time, while the ambiance of her performances can be utterly enjoyed through offerings like cosmic Path.

Secrets by Anaya is absolutely a step up the ladder for the artist, and I would dare to say her best work so far, there is a sense of consistency here through each composition that is crafted beautifully, and each arrangement has been

carefully composed with the intent of getting it just right for the listener, and that she most certainly has done with ease. This is an album that is a sure-fire winner, and fans of multiple genres within the instrumental labyrinths of music, are going to just love Secrets by Anaya.

Tell us about yourself and your music

We are an Electronic Instrumental Prog Rock band originally formed in Edinboro, Pennsylvania. We played together for about a year and a half and parted ways but not permanently. In that time we made our first album, self-titled, and played a few of the bigger local venues in our area. After we departed we continued for the next two years to work on music together the best we could. We almost have a second album finished currently and plan to release it in the next few months. Currently we are planning on our reunion. We will all be relocating ourselves to Pittsburgh (minus our original keyboardist Sam Eakin). The three core members will be moving into a house together which has been a dream for us for a long time. Our first priority is to finish our second album and then begin playing shows in the Pittsburgh area. Of course we hope to be able to branch out in the future to the entire big beautiful world.

Our first and only release was our self-title album two years ago. But currently we are working on our untitled second album. We have been working on this for the past two years by sharing tracks online with each other. Because this album has been made completely studio style without any live playing together, we were free to experiment with ideas we otherwise would not have used before, including sprinkling in some vocals every now and then. When we finally get back together in Pittsburgh we will actually be able to play live together and finish the album more easily. So far the second album sounds very different from our original, especially wit the manner in which we are writing it. Actually we are planning on sort of re-inventing our sound when we reunite and the second album may serve as somewhat of a new template for our music.

What inspired you to write this release?

I honestly do not know how to answer that question. I guess we just felt like it?

Describe the writing and recording process

For our first album we just sort of jammed a lot of the time and recorded ourselves. If something good came out of a practice we worked the idea into an actual piece. Most of the time someone would come to practice with a song idea already worked out and we would just play it until we molded it into something. Obviously we our second album we did not have this luxury. We are all currently living in separate cities, and even one of us is in a different state. For this album someone would just record a few tracks of an idea and second it to the others. We would all just keep adding/deleting/editing tracks and sending them back and forth. Given our limitations we are all actually very satisfied with how it is turning out. Once we are back in Pittsburgh we plan on finishing the album as more of a live group, reflecting our original style of writing. Although sharing tracks over distances has definitely given us new ideas on how we will handle the writing process.

Any plans to hit the road?

Right now we are focusing on getting ourselves into a house in Pittsburgh. Once we are back together we definitely plan on getting our selves back into playing out but we have no specific places in mind other than the Pittsburgh area for now.
So sadly we will not be going on any tours for some time.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

We don’t believe is using gimmicks or novelties. We simply just try to put out the best music we can. We don’t have an image we are trying to sell. Our drummer is also our acting graphic artist so we basically just let him decide what looks cool.

Who have you been listening to lately?

Honestly, I just got done listening to our second album for the third time today.

Who are your biggest influences?

Papadosio, Vibe & Direct, Tauk, Tool, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slightly Stupid, Pearl Jam, Guns n’ Roses, Jimi Hendrix, Gnosis (also of the Erie, PA area, seriously look up their album Silver Matters. It blew our minds how good these guys were.)

Tell us about your passions

Our drummer is a graphical artist and is currently working on his own Indie game. He’s pretty much always at his laptop creating something.
The bassist is also a production manager as his profession. He landed the job recently and I’ve honestly never seen him so happy at work. He loves just being fully immersed in anything music and that includes promoting, organizing, and managing shows. He’s been at it a long time and he’s finally in a position where he can fully be a part of producing the entire experience for people.
As a guitarist my only passion is being a guitarist. I can list various other interests but they are essentially hobbies to kill time until I’m playing guitar again.

What else is happening next in your world?

Reunion in Pittsburgh as mentioned before. From there we have no clue where we are taking this project or how far.

Seattle, WA — Tuesday, December 17th, 2019 — The Danbury Lie’s “Space Noodles” EP combines heady psychedelic grooves with hard rock energy for a unique but familiar vibe. It is now streaming at www.thedanburylie.com and will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon December 17th.

The EP’s first track “Blue Dream” is built from a catchy looping riff, with lead playing similar to Kirk Hammett’s solos on Metallica’s “Fade to Black.” The main instrument is electric bouzouki, a traditional Irish stringed instrument that is most closely related to the mandolin and often resembles a sitar with the heavy flanger effect The Danbury Lie uses throughout the EP’s 3 songs.

The second track “Soul Searching” is filled with some thought-provoking samples and trippy synths to go along with its driving hard rock vibe, and the final tune “Parmigiano” has a grunge-metal feel with plenty of slide shredding on the electric bouzouki.

“Space Noodles” was recorded at Soundhouse in Seattle, Washington in August and September 2019. It will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and all other major streaming services on December 17, 2019.

Artist spotlight: Mean Old Fireman & the Cruel Engineers

Tell us about yourself and your music

I grew up in a musical family (my parents were classical musicians). They encouraged me to play but didn’t push me in any particular direction. I took guitar lessons, folk, music fiddle tunes and the like. When I was about 11, I heard Duane Allman playing slide and I was hooked. Because of my background, I listen to everything, rock, jazz, blues, country, funk, fusion, but playing, I always stayed close to roots/Americana.
By the mid-eighties, the only music getting played was either Hair metal, New Wave or Dance stuff. I got away from playing for quite a while, years, in fact. Then I heard Derek Trucks. I swore Duane had never died and just had been woodshedding somewhere!
And then I rediscovered Sonny Landreth’s playing (who I had seen with John Hiatt’s band). Soon after, I tracked down some of Danny Gatton’s recordings. Hearing these guys sort of jump-started my musical brain. I had the good fortune to be able to spend some time with Sonny a few years back. He’s an incredible teacher and the quintessential Southern Gentleman. My focus has been on the slide ever since.

Talk to us more about your latest release

I had been playing in a couple of bands again, but really wanted to have more control over the project. As fate with having it, between gigs and some session work, I found players that I knew would be a good fit for my material. I mean, just listen to how Joey and Rick lock into the groove on “Mean old Fireman”. They make a pocket so deep you could launch a SpaceX mission out of it. Our debut Album, Box 1, was released in August and can be heard on our page at Soundcloud.

What inspired you to write this release?

I’ve been writing material on and off for a long time. I found ideas that would pop into my head at work a lot. My “day job” is as Firefighter, so I made a habit of bringing a cheap travel guitar and leaving it on my bunk. If I had some downtime, I’d hash out what was in my head and make some notes or a quick recording on my phone so the ideas didn’t fade into oblivion.

My inspiration comes from everywhere. “Through the notch” is a great example. I used to work a second job fixing 2-way radio equipment in Northern New England. Lots of times, I’d finish service calls early and go skiing in the afternoon. One morning, I drove through Franconia Notch in a snow squall. Right when I got to the Northern end, the sky cleared, the snow stopped and the morning sun lit up the valley like I’ve never seen it since. The first phrases of the song popped in my head. I kept singing it to myself all day, till I could write it down.

Some tunes, like “On your Marc”, came together very deliberately. Marc Athlan, is an amazing slide player from France. He’s one of those rare players that is wonderfully melodic and technically groundbreaking. He’s been a huge inspiration for me. I had been listening to some of his phrases and a series of ideas developed. I wanted to consciously use similar techniques, as a tribute, but not copy his licks. The process, at first, was more deliberate. I built the key phases, constructed the chord structure and hated the result. It seemed too forced. I improvised over the changes a few times and came up with a more flowing melody.

Some songs write themselves. “Hogg Wild” was one. I was loosening up one morning the day before a session and the “A’ section came together in about 5 minutes. The “B” section is a stereotypical circle of 5ths progression common in swing and bluegrass, just speed up to hyper-caffeinated, warp speed. It took me longer to write out the chart than to come up with the idea. I emailed them to Joey and Rick. We recorded the rhythm tracks the next day.

Describe the writing and recording process

Where I’m writing, playing and producing the material, I generally have a pretty solid concept of where I want to take a song. We are very fortunate to have a studio available (The Bridge Sound and Stage) with an incredible live room. We’ll set up the drums in the main room and put the amps in isolation. It gives us the feel of playing live and the control over the sound. Because of the amazing room sound (and our Engineer, Alex Allinson’s ability to utilize it), there’s very little processing on the drum sounds. It’s all Joey, the drums and the room.

I strive to keep an organic sound and feel to the recordings. I want to be able to reproduce it live. I’m a stickler capturing a wide variety of tones, whether electric or acoustic. I want the music to sound like musicians playing instruments, not tones being spit out of a machine.

Any plans to release a video?

Any plans to hit the road?

Getting all the moving parts to line up is always a challenge for any band, and we’re no exception. We’re currently working on booking a series of short tour legs in 2020.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

We’re constantly balancing keeping an organic sound with sounding fresh. Where we have a heavy instrumental focus, we strive for an energetic delivery that showcases great musicianship. People still like great music, we aim to make the energy infectious.

Who have you been listening to lately?

There have been some great new releases from some of our friends, like The Melody Trucks Band and Lady Lupine. After hearing of Paul Barrere’s passing, I’ve been on a Little Feat binge.

Who are your biggest influences?

Well, Duane got me hooked on slide guitar. Sonny Landreth and Danny Gatton are probably the most evident in my playing. Steve Morse has always inspired me, as far as writing. I love how he’ll mix and match sounds and feels from different genres. Hey, boundaries are for conformists! Really, everything I hear influences me somehow.

Tell us about your passions

I’m really grateful to be in such a great place in my life. I have a job where I get to help people with what is often the worst day of their lives. Our department has gotten a lot younger and I enjoy the responsibility of getting the younger members up to speed on a job that takes a career to learn. It’s been said many times: “The most important thing an old firefighter can teach a young firefighter is how to become an old firefighter”.

My wife is starting her own business and there are always projects to help her out with. I love working with my hands, so when our 150-year-old house isn’t keeping me busy, I love building or fixing guitars and my gear.

There’s a belief that misery inspires great music. It can, and certainly has for many people. I think being in a good place can be just as inspirational, and you can be a heck of a lot more productive when you’re not walking around with your head down and your tail between your legs!

What else is happening next in your world?

Well, winter’s on the way and I need to insulate my wife’s home office. As I mentioned, there’s a video project in the works, dates coming up in 2020 and we’ll be back in the studio later this week to start on more new material.

Tell us about yourself and your music

I’m a multi-instrumentalist from London England who normally makes guitar-driven instrumental music. I picked up a guitar when I was around 12 years old, I’d always had a love for music before that but wanted to play the guitar. My sister got me one as a present and from there I taught myself how to play, first learning to play along to the songs that I loved using Tab books. After around 5 years of doing this, I became keen to create my own and it was still just a hobby at this point. I managed to get a job teaching music at a prison, that’s when I started to take things seriously. I learned enough instruments to be my backing band and had access to all of the instruments there as well as the use of a Studio which I built from scratch. As I haven’t been blessed with a great voice, I decided that shouldn’t stop me from creating my music and I could use the guitar as my voice. I studied the music of Buckethead, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Paul Gilbert to name a few and felt that I could tell stories using my guitar, hence why I have the tag line “telling stories that have no words”!

Talk to us more about your latest release

My latest release is called Why Stop Now and it’s a collection of 5 instrumentals, an E.P. They’ve been composed around a really busy point in my life with the birth of my first child, so it took a little longer than I would have liked to complete but I’m happy with the end product. The songs vary in styles, even instrumental guitar-driven music can be so diverse, I have such a diverse taste in music I try to incorporate all the different elements into my compositions. It starts with a funk-driven track called “Brown fury” and goes through all the elements of Hip Hop, Rock, and Pop that I love with the common theme being the lead guitar telling the story. I decided to call it Why Stop Now as even though I still work a full-time job, I’m married with a child now and have a general day to day life to get through as anyone does, I’m not about to stop composing music because I’m “Busy”. I find that a lot of people make excuses for not being able to do things which they want to do as they feel they don’t have time but I think if you want to do something and it’s really important to you that time can be made, no excuses!

What inspired you to write this release?

I had such an amazing year leading up to this release it’s hard to pinpoint one moment. The birth of my daughter was amazing, we’ve also been able to travel to a few places and take in different cultures. It’s a mixture of all of these things and a will to not stopping what I love so much that has contributed to the process of composing this release. I’m already halfway through the follow up for this release so currently riding a really good wave!

Describe the writing and recording process

The writing process normally comes from just sitting there with a guitar in my hand. I just put things together, or a random chord structure and then think of melodies to go over it. From there I work out how I would want the drums to sound and then a bass line and try to get a groove going. When I get to recording, I normally record a rough rhythm guitar section then lock down the drums. Once I’m happy with the drums, I put the bass guitar over it to get that solid backbeat going and add in any other instruments I feel add texture at that point. Once I’m happy with the backbeat I then re-record my guitars for a more finalized version. In the whole process, there will always be changes from the original idea I had to make everything fit together and make sense but I feel working like this works for me as it helps me add different elements to my compositions.

Any plans to hit the road?

Unfortunately, no current plans to hit the road and perform my own music but I am currently in the process of potentially hitting the road with a band, more on that to come in the coming months!

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

I try as much as I can to let the music do the talking. I do a lot on Instagram, especially during the writing and recording process to give my fans an idea of how I put these songs together and so they can actually see me playing every instrument on my songs. When it comes to releasing music, I reach out to places I feel my music may get covered like yourselves and submit my music for consideration to be reviewed. What I’m really trying to get at is to get my music synced for film/tv video games, so if there’s anyone out there who is reading this and likes what they hear please reach out!

Who have you been listening to lately?

My musical tastes are so diverse, currently, my playlist has Aerosmith, Post Malone, Soja, Joe Satriani, Mr. Big, Swae Lee, myself with this new e.p, Snow, Khalid, Maroon 5, it’s really all over the place!

Who are your biggest influences?

Biggest influences in music are some classic rock bands like Aerosmith, Guns n roses, Van Halen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Megadeth and. In terms of guitarists, my all-time favorite is Buckethead and then I also have been inspired by Richie Kotzen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Prince was such an amazing guitarist that he doesn’t get enough credit for

Tell us about your passions

My passions are obviously music, my family, my daughter, and sports.

What else is happening next in your world?

I’m already recording the follow up for this release and have some major things happening in my personal life, but like my e.p “Why Stop Now?” I won’t let that sidetrack me from releasing my next e.p before the end of the year!

Hawaii Mandolin Tour by The Danbury Lie: 11 Solo Improvisations Recorded at Parks and Beaches throughout The Aloha State

Seattle, WA — Friday, May 17th, 2019 — The Danbury Lie have released Hawaii Mandolin Tour , a full-length album of solo improvisations recorded in parks and beaches throughout The Aloha State. The album, which features a mix of psychedelic and classical vibes (along with some good ol’ shredding), can be heard on all the major streaming services including Spotify and Bandcamp.

Instrumentalist Rob Loncto (aka The Danbury Lie) traveled around the Hawaiian islands for two weeks in February/March 2019 with his mandolin, recording along the way while taking in some of the world’s greatest natural beauty. The result is a unique stripped-down sound that is perfectly suited for meditation sessions or perhaps as background music for a 420 dinner party.

“Hawaii is an amazing place, and it’s great to document my travels with this record,” Loncto said. “The beautiful scenery in places like Waikiki and Maui inspired my playing and hopefully some of those vibes seeped into the music.”

The album’s standout tracks include “Perfect Sunset” and “Waipio Haze,” both of which feature a trippy/mediational motif. “South Point” is a burst of major scale shredding akin to traditional Irish music. “Playing at the Edge of the World” has a nice stoner rock feel, highlighted by waves crashing at Pu’uhonua O Hōnaunau National Historical Park. Hawaii Mandolin Tour follows the release of The Danbury Lie’s “Color Blind” / “Secret Societies” single in January 2019, two fully produced recordings with electric bouzouki as the main instrument along with Moog synth and drums. The Danbury Lie’s recent recordings add a nice touch of eastern psychedelia to its foundation in classic stoner rock, a seamless progression that can be enjoyed by fans of either genre.

Artist Interview: Matt Falcone

Tell us about yourself and your music

Were a multi – Genre label… possible one of the oldest EDM labels in America, though through the course of time we switched ownership a few times. We also own a very old Laser Show Company, and because of that, we were one of 10 companies or less inside the USA producing lasers at festivals. This gave us an upper hand for working all over the USA and also made it really easy for us to book our artist at events, unlike a traditional artist management/booking agency.

Talk to us more about your latest release

Our next release, called “So in Love” and is from an up & coming to young rapper Mickey Zobel, who won the best rapper on MTV’s Andy Milonakis Television Show. The song also features his beautiful sister Lily and was produced by one of our top artists Epic Micky who currently has radio play for 7 of songs at this time, some getting up to 80 plays a month on Sirus XM and he also been introduced twice on BBC. At this time, he has 375 EDM dance songs in his discography. I would consider the genre “Mainstream Dance” because it’s sort of a cross-genre of rap & progressive house.

What inspired you to write this release?

It was written by Lily Zobel, in 2014… and a mutual friend shared the youtube with us, so we asked if we could write a song around the lyrics. Some time passed, about a year, going back & forth until all the parties involved had a version they were happy with, and now we’re getting ready for the release on Memorial Day Weekend 2018.

Describe the writing and recording process

The writing & recording process varies from artist to artist on our label. Some are veterans, and they have been in the industry for a long time, and some are very young in their 1st year. Each artist has their own unique method & software. Some of them take their time on a song, and they don’t like to release until after a few months of production, and some are a bit the opposite they could write one song in a day & call it all final. Both methods, seem to me to produce similar and equally good results. I can’t say one method is better than the other.

Any plans to release a video?

For this new release “So in Love” we have two people working on two different lyric videos. The artist Mickey Zobel also has plans for a real music video, which at this time he may have somewhere around 10 to 20 professional produced video. As for our self, the label we don’t really get involved in music video production quite as much as we should. It’s a very time-consuming process and involves a lot of different software. We have a lot of ties in the television & movie industry, some relative and some very good friends… but, whenever we ask our Film or TV executive friends to produce a music video for us, there’s always a list of reasons why they can not, such as time, money, or a conflict of interest with the studios. Sometimes we get involved, as we’ve done lasers on a few real music videos for TV, with real budgets, but as in-house were sort of know for our documentaries. We currently have over 200 documentaries, most of which are over an hour to two hours long. This all started before cell phone companies started installing cameras in cell phones, as over 10 years ago when we doing lasers at 4 festivals a week, and people were not allowed to bring in video equipment to a concert, we were always one of the only people with a camera. Any plans to hit the road?

We’re always on the road since we own a laser company. Sometimes the shows slow down a bit for us in the winter since we’re located up north near New York City… but we’re sort of happy were not on the road like we used to be from 1996 to 2004 doing 4 shows a week. It’s very hard work, and it’s brutal on our bodies, our vehicles, and our equipment… plus the trips always come with a set of obstacles like dealing with difficult people in demanding situations.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

The laser company is a big plus, not many people can say they’ve toured with Snoop Dogg, Linkin Park, and Jay Z…. plus over 200 other artists as we have, and have the videos to prove it. Whether or not were up to their singing with them or not, the final result is on our youtube page, and whether it’s for one of our artists performing, or us producing lasers at an event, our clients the audience all go to the same youtube page. I’ve been saying for years if you come home with no photographs & no video… then you have no proof we were there at all, and you might as well say we didn’t even work the festival.

Who have you been listening to lately?

I don’t listen to much music, I’m what you call a chart reader. I read lots of various charts every week, then I read about the artist & I google them to try to determine what they’re doing for marketing and where their advertising at. I also visit radio station web sites frequently, and read their playlists… but rarely listen. When I do listen to a song, I always just skip thru it, because I really do not have the time to listen to a whole song.

Who are your biggest influences?

Our biggest influence would probably be the founders of our company who went on to endeavor other projects. They were very influential musically in the transition from Acid-Rock to Acid-House in the late 1980s. They also started the laser company which was handed down to us, as they may have been the 5th company inside the USA to do so. But, the rode the wave too long during the 90’s when it was still underground, but it may have been more difficult or maybe even easier because at that time there were really only like 1000 or so electronic music producers, so making a name was much easier then today were there can be 20,000 electronic producers. Eventually, they moved on to other more lucrative projects like being an executive producer of some very popular children’s television shows and movies.

Tell us about your passions

Veganism. I myself (Matt Falcone) the owner/operator of Louis Capet XXVI has been a vegetarian since a very young age around the year of 1997, and have been vegan since maybe the year 2000. I like to spend my spare time volunteering & arguing for groups like PETA online and in the real world. Though its something 95% of the population disagrees with, and also something maybe 99% of my artists disagrees with, each year the vegan & vegetarian population gets bigger & bigger. It has a lot of potentials, unlike let’s say smoking those electronic cigarettes.

What else is happening next in your world?

There’s always a lot happening, and unlike what you might hear from every other artist… I may tell a different story, we look forward to possibly a few more Court disagreements, more equipment problems, more festival problems, and more employee/artist problems. Working in music is not as glamorous as it’s portrayed in some music videos. It’s a very very cut-through and backstabbing industry, and it’s also a very difficult business to operate. I myself was an operator of a few mortgage brokerage firms, and I can say working as a music publisher is probably a 1,000 times more difficult.

Tell us about yourself and your music

My name is Karatesyd I have been making hits for over 10 years. I am a singer/songwriter with a bachelors degree in Science with a major in music production. Born and raised in the hill district of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Karatesyd overcame poverty, drugs, gun violence, and crime. I used my surroundings to build my story and that’s what’s at the core of my sound the pain.

Talk to us more about your latest release

My latest release is a double EP called Ruthless King. This is my fifth official release and one of my best pieces of work. I’m proud of this EP because it shows my growth not only musically but my growth overall. My leading song is titled out my system produced by Tone Jonez it’s has smooth hip-hop feel with a soul all in it.

What inspired you to write this release?

This release was inspired by my personal life and personal demons I had to conquer in order to move forward towards success. When I was writing Ruthless King I was going through a divorce which tore me apart from the family I made and my oldest son. I lost 4 loved ones in a years time due to gun violence and the rest to prison. Ruthless King was my redemption release in thanks to growth and survival.

Describe the writing and recording process

I’m always creating music weather is instrumental for placements or writing songs for other artists. But when I’m writing music for myself to release I have to use concepts. I create a brainstorm bubble with a topic and create the context around that. After that, it just comes together like Lego blocks.

Any plans to release a video?

My new track out my system has a trailer video out now. The official video coming soon as I build hype and interest in it. Full Visuals and release will be June/5/2019.

Any plans to hit the road?

Tour coming soon in June to The east coast and the Southern States and West Coast dates will be available soon.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

As an indie artist, I intend to use many different techniques to establish my brand. Currently, I’m working with a small telecommunications company that supply’s me with electronic merchandise. This not only stretches my brand awareness it also gives me a financial platform to create my music comfortably.

Who have you been listening to lately?

I listen to lots of music daily. Rick Ross and Jeezy headline my playlist because I can relate to their music. I also have Kendrick, Jay-Z, and Nas on my playlist. Tyga, Soulja Boy, Gucci, Kodak Black, and Bruno Mars are also on rotation especially Wake up in the sky that’s my favorite song right now love it.

Who are your biggest influences?

My biggest influence is my children. I have been an artist my whole life since 9 years old. I have played every role from a producer, musician, DeeJ, the artist you name it I have done it. This desire is what drove me to strive for success in music and show my children if you work hard you can make it. Working for the big break and payoff is what life is about.

Tell us about your passions

Besides music, I have an intense passion to cook. I love to cook and have been cooking as long as I have been active in music. My grandma taught me everything I know and I hope one day to pass it on to my children.

What else is happening next in your world?

My goal is to build a sturdy fan base. I will be touring soon so I’m preparing for that. I also want to focus my attention to one day be a radio DJ and or on-air personality. I intend to keep growing and learning and creating.

Tell us about yourself and your music

I was born in Kingston Jamaica. You could say that I grew up poor until my siblings were moved to Toronto Canada when I was still a fairly young boy. Things were a little better and it wasn’t as hard to adjust as I had thought. I kicked and cried so hard and long to not get on that plane, but as soon as the plane got over the city and began to descend, all the city lights seemed so beautiful to me that it calmed me immensely. In my very first school year, I was delighted to discover that music lessons were taught in school. This led to my first instrument, the trumpet. After getting a taste of most of the wind instrument in music class, I fell in love with the guitar and it’s been my drug of choice ever since

Talk to us more about your latest release

My latest release hits stores November 30. 2018. t It’s entitled Til the sun Comes Round by Ambre Mclean. It’s a mid-tempo pop track with a whole lotta soul

What inspired you to write this release?

Initially, I just made the beat because that’s what came to me at the time no specific made me do it other than to be productive. however, a good friend of mine Michael Williams is close friends with Ambre, thought I should send it to her to see what she could do with it. He made the arrangements and got Ambre and me to get in touch with each other.

Describe the writing and recording process

After speaking with Ambre over the phone, we had a good vibe and a strong musical connection. I sent her the track and she began writing almost immediately. Because she is a recording artist in her own right she and her husband own a recording studio where she recorded the vocals for the track and sent the files back to me. She nailed it. I was very happy with the result thanks to Michael and I am so excited for her fans everywhere to hear something unexpected from her.

Any plans to release a video?

We have not made any plans for shooting a video as yet. It all comes down to Ambre’s availability and my budget so we’ll have to wait and see.

Who are your biggest influences?

My biggest influences are what we call “old school artists” like Stevie Wonder, the Commodores, Marvin Gaye etc. These artists and their songs are still are where it all comes from.

Tell us about your passions

Believe it or not, other than music my passion is cooking a delicious meal and sharing it with my friends. I just love seeing people enjoy the moment. Same with performing for an audience I guess.

What else is happening next in your world?

I’m delighted to say that I have put my band KILLSHOT together and we are hopefully going to be ready for an early spring debut which will be a showcase of Toronto talent some of which have recorded for y label Paradigm Group Entertainment. An independent label I started a just few yrs ago.
