“Before All The Trouble” is a summer anthem balancing optimism, reflection, and fleeting romance with plenty of grooves to keep toes tapping and fingers snapping.

His latest single for 2021 is a culmination of his experience in the Jazz, Caribbean and Indie scenes. Music royalty and Guitarist Paul Beaubrun (Zing Experience) conveys a tasteful and sparse lead guitar lick, matching a better time reported in the song as “Before all the trouble began”.

The song weaves highlife style guitar over a catchy and punchy Bass line played by Al Macdowell, Ornette Coleman’s Bass player since 1974.

A sought after Percussionist across many styles and genres, he’s performed with Ornette Coleman and was courted by Arcade Fire’s Winn Butler to play snare drum for his Krewe Du Kanaval and Drums for his DJ Windows 98 Projects. Canadian Rockers Release American Dream

Hamilton, Ontario, Canada — Thursday, December 10th, 2020 — This Mad Desire ’s new album American Dream has been described as containing “timeless songs designed for the times”. It includes collaborations with hit producer Mark Zubek (Zedd Records, Toronto) as well as Dan Konopka (OK Go, Los Angeles). Recorded over two years, many of the basic tracks were recorded at the Hamilton Public Library’s Dundas branch, which has a music studio in the children’s department. As there is a community-minded focus to the album, this added to the public art dimension of the record.

Fans of Jane’s Addiction, Smashing Pumpkins, and OK Go will find something to love on This Mad Desire’s American Dream , which includes covers of Elected by Alice Cooper (fitting for election year), What the Astronaut Noticed And Then Suggested by iconoclastic Canadian singer-songwriter Bob Wiseman, and an (unwitting) collaboration with Leonard Cohen on Perfect Ring. Any profits from the song Perfect Ring will be donated to mental health services. Lyrics for Perfect Ring are by Leonard Cohen.

After finishing the track Antifa and the Supremacists with Dan Konopka, Kristjon was randomly assaulted in Hamilton by a meth addict, who severely disfigured Kristjon’s face, recovery for which took almost a year. Said Kristjon, “Certainly, this was an unfortunate accident, and luckily, my face has returned basically to normal. When they first took off the bandages, I looked like a Klingon! And poor Dan. He had just recorded his drum parts for Antifa and then he saw me post on Instagram my ‘new look’ – i.e. covered in blood and looking like a dog’s breakfast. Because I sing about the Russians and street justice and fake news and all this stuff in the song, I think he feared that this was a targeted attack by some upper level government strike team! Totally random and totally awful.”

Regarding the Leonard Cohen connection, Kristjon said, “I initially wrote Perfect Ring while in high school in Thunder Bay. A friend close to my early high school band had a friend who had committed suicide, and she asked me to set music to this poem which was supposedly her last writing. I sang this song in her honor for years. Eventually, on a bus in rural Manitoba, I was reading an anthology of Leonard Cohen’s poetry and came across what turns out had been the lyrics I’d been singing all along! It’s easily one of my favorite songs I’ve ever sang.”

This Mad Desire’s American Dream has been released in the middle of a global pandemic and an election year that has seen the best and worst of American society, and this album shines a musical spotlight on the vicissitudes of American life.

A 3-Year Effort In 3 minutes And 30 Seconds Of Pop Folk

Caminha, Viana do Castelo, Portugal — Monday, November 23rd, 2020 — Fire (Burning In My Veins) is the most critically acclaimed release by the pop-folk band, the Non Talkers. The record bestows the perennial beauty of true love while based on a real story between the two core members, Marco Brantner and Evita Brantner. And yes, the two share the same last name as they’re husband and wife. And not just your regular couple either. Marco and Evita both write their songs and communicate with each other in English, while the first comes from Portugal and the latter from Belgium.

The two vocalists and songwriters state that Fire (Burning In My Veins) was by far the most challenging record they’ve ever brought to fruition. The production process lasted a staggering three years and required multiple re-recordings. Carlton’s first stint at professional singing was with an acapella group called Visions of Glory which his aunt Hazel formed. He grew up loving R & B, soul and gospel music greats like Mahalia Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross and Stevie Wonder. His debut Album was a gospel album entitled ” Praise Him Up!” which was released in 2006.

The Calypso genre attracted this artist, who always wanted to sing this indigenous artform. So he started in 2010, winning his Company’s talent show, then moving on to compete at a national level. In 2014 he was a finalist at the Young Kings competition in Trinidad and Tobago which gathers the best male calypsonians in the land to compete. He won his company’s Calypso Monarch in 2016 and two years later was a semi-finalist at the prestigious Calypso Fiesta, a national competition. Carifesta, a Caribbean festival of the arts was one of this artist’s cherished memories where he was featured as a guest artist. After 10 years in Calypso he releases a much anticipated album for the fans he gathered over the years.

The Art of Dreaming in Song, Interview with Singer-Songwriter Elaine Lucia

Tell us about yourself and your music

I was 12 years old when I had my first professional gig – singing with my middle school choir teacher’s jazz trio at an Italian wedding! Also at that age, I begged my uncle for an old unused guitar he had and began teaching myself to play by listening to James Taylor and Joni Mitchell records, and by making up my own little songs. Growing up, I was obsessed with great singers like Judy Garland and especially worshipped jazz legends Ella Fitzgerald and Anita O’Day. I dreamed of being a Broadway star, too! I guess you could say I loved listening to and singing music from all genres…all I wanted was to be a great singer. During my teenage years, and then on through college and music school (where I studied the classical vocal repertoire), I was very fortunate to be able to ‘sing for my supper,’ as our family had no money for me to take private lessons or for school tuition.

In the early 80’s I sold my flute and bought a one-way ticket to the San Francisco Bay Area, arriving with only a suitcase and my guitar. Back then, the music scene in San Francisco was really hot and for years I performed with my own quartet as a jazz singer. We also recorded three full-length jazz records that got some good radio play and good reviews. We were playing pretty consistently for years. I continued playing guitar and writing songs but for decades I never performed any of my original music in my shows, and I didn’t think my playing could hold up to the amazing musicians I was so blessed to have in my band. Finally, about six years ago, the guys pretty much insisted on hearing – and playing – my original songs. The first time I heard my compositions performed by these incredible musicians I just cried my eyes out and could barely sing. The band continued to encourage me to keep writing and they really listened to, and played, my music with so much care. It’s still amazing for me to hear songs that I’ve written played so beautifully by my cherished musician friends, who are all virtuosos on their instruments. Today, I have so many songs, and they just keep coming, so I plan to jump right back into recording as soon as possible. We’re working out how to record our tracks remotely, and putting together my own recording set up for getting guitar and vocal tracks down at home. It’s a work in progress, always, but as long as there’s Music in my Life…Life is Good.

Talk to us more about your latest release

My newest record is titled, “Twist Run Road,” which is the name of the street I grew up on in upstate New York. They are songs mostly about the Place…the fireflies underneath the pines. Milkweed “like snow, falling from a summer sky.” The “trees in the autumn, and the leaves.” They are dream songs, memorable songs. They come from a place of love and hopefully evoke feelings of love, hope, peace, forgiveness. It was a painful time, growing up on Twist Run Road, but I kept the best remembrances, the ones that feel good, for my songs.

What inspired you to write this release?

I remember about six years ago reading page after page of lyrics I had written; I was reading them as if they were poetry, not songs. And I realized that so many of them had a common theme: they were remembrances from dreams; I had experienced much of the imagery while sleeping. Others were daydreams or memories of the few times when I was growing up that I felt happy, peaceful, or safe….those songs were about being out in nature. So many of my song lyrics are about the trees, the moon, the stars, water. Going back over my lyrics was like looking at old movies of myself, it brought up so many feelings. And I thought: these are beautiful and I should record these. I hadn’t really realized how many songs I had written over the years and hadn’t considered recording an all-original record. At the same time this happened, I was feeling a bit uninspired by singing jazz; maybe it was time to just go for it and sing my own songs rather than someone else’s vision or story. I decided to do this recording and call it “Twist Run Road” because it’s a pretty cool name and it just happens to be the name of the street I grew up on. The title song is about the lady who lived across the street from us, and she was a loving presence when I was really young.

Describe the writing and recording process

I don’t really have a writing “process,” as many of my songs come from my dreams. I may be actively singing in the dream, or, there is a scene in the dream with me singing a song as the ‘soundtrack.’ I’ve had dreams where one part of my mind is in the music and the scene, and another part of my mind is saying: “Oh my gosh I need to remember this!” That has happened more than a few times and it’s so trippy. The only time I ever sit myself down with the intention of “OK, I’m going to write a song now” is when I have to write a jingle or a theme song for a paying client! I never “craft” a song consciously.

It’s more like the Music already exists in the Universe (or within myself) and I just tune in to it. The key is to be always listening, and I do have music in my head pretty much 24 hours a day. I’ve ‘tuned in’ to new songs while washing the dishes, while in my car at the drive-through getting Starbucks, daydreaming at the beach. When I hear something in my head, I’ll grab my iPhone and record snippets of lyrics, or melody lines, or just free-flow thoughts. Sometimes I’ll get almost an entire song all at once, although that’s rare. Mostly I’ll get a hook or a chorus or a verse or two….or maybe just a beautiful melodic line. I take whatever I can get! and then just let it incubate. I’ll sing it over and over….I’ll sing it before going to sleep and ask my higher Self to bring me the rest of the song. I tried that with one song in particular and it worked, to my delight and surprise. Ask and you shall receive! Anyway, every single song is different, so there is no consistent songwriting process for any of them.

As for my recording process: my first three records were all jazz records, and were recorded with the same engineer: my ex-husband. We’re good friends and always have had a great working relationship. But with this record, I play guitar on every song except for one, so I wanted to try a different recording process. When I perform my original songs on stage, I play guitar and sing. But in the studio, I had to just play the guitar without singing, and I found that really challenging. I had been practicing hard for years to prepare for this recording, but being in the studio was another story. The lead guitarist on the record, Dave MacNab, is just so fantastic, I felt I needed to keep up with him best I could. And bassist Cliff Hugo, another amazing player, I admired him so much that I also wanted to be able to hold my head up with my guitar chops!!! So, after laying down reference guitar and vocal tracks with the band, I then went in later and recorded my keeper guitar tracks (without singing at the same time, of course). That was a lot of work because man, I made a lot of mistakes! I really did not want to fix my guitar parts in Protools, so I insisted on playing full takes all the way through. That was physically grueling, some sessions I was playing for 6 hours, which was hard on my body…I have such respect for session players!! It was a great experience, though, and thank goodness my recording engineer Kenny Evans has the patience of a saint.

One super cool thing that did happen in the studio was that Dave (MacNab) surprised me by telling me he had taken one of the songs (“Fireflies”) to the orchestra pit of the show “Hamilton” (he was playing guitar in the show). He played the rough tracks for the string quartet and asked them if they would be interested in recording the song if he wrote the string arrangement. They say yes!! And all this took place without me knowing about it. Dave then asked me if I would be OK with him writing a string arrangement to the song and if the “Hamilton” orchestra pit string quartet could record it? Ummmmm…YES!! It was a gift from heaven, I must say because I had wanted a string quartet but did not have the arrangement or a string quartet! I also did not have the money for it. But incredibly, that very same night that Dave told me about this, I received a phone call from a friend who had seen my Facebook posts about the recording sessions for “Twist Run Road.” The friend said that he really wanted to help me finish the record, and would I accept a financial gift from him? Uhmmmm…YES!!! And it just so happened that he gave me exactly the amount I needed to record the string quartet. So…thanks, Universe!!

Finally, I had my last recording session the weekend before we went into ‘shelter-in-place’ here in California in mid-March. And so I had the mixing engineer mix the songs remotely, and we communicated via email, sending song files back and forth. It was pretty complicated and took a long time, but he did a great job under trying circumstances. It was wonderful to have this project to work on during the pandemic, it kept me sane since I was isolated with just my cat.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

My day job (for many years now) is as a marketing director; I started in a newspaper advertising pre-internet. So, I think about branding a lot.
But to be honest, when it comes to my music, I don’t have a brand or logo, or slogan that makes me stand out. I’m not even trying to sell my music at this time…I’m giving it away. I know that’s probably crazy, but I decided long ago that my goal is to simply make people feel good with my songs, to help them escape for a little while into what I call “magical musical moments.”

During these very dark days and hard times, I didn’t want to charge anyone for the record or downloads. I’d love for as many people as possible to hear it; and then, they can pass it along, share it. That’s it!

I do spend considerable time promoting my playlists on social media, and on my website, you can listen to all my records, full tracks, as well.

So…I don’t have a brand. I guess you could say my advertising campaign is: “Here is some beautiful music for you…I hope you will enjoy it!

Who have you been listening to lately?

I listen mostly to classical music; my favorites are Debussy, Fauré, Satie, Chopin. I listen to a lot of Brazilian music, love Marisa Monte, and all the classic Jobim repertoire by various artists; the music of Cape Verde is another favorite genre. Ooh, I love Lianne La Havas, her guitar playing and singing is so beautiful. My friend Jasnam Daya Singh has a wonderful record called “Ekta: The Unity Project” with the Portland Jazz Composers Ensemble that I’ve listened to several times lately. The past few weeks I’m feeling kind of nostalgic so listening to childhood favorites: James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Phoebe Snow, Stevie Wonder, Elton John…ya know, the ’70s had some great songwriters. I listen to the Beatles a lot, and also Paul Simon is a genius songwriter and guitarist. Current songwriters, I like a lot are Ed Sheeran, Brandi Carlile, and I’m listening now to Lucinda Williams’ new record, “Good Souls Better Angels.” The other day I watched the new Dolly Parton documentary on Netflix and got to relive all of her hits and realize again what an incredible songwriter she is. The “Trio” album with Dolly, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris was life-changing for me when I was a kid. There are so much music and so little time.

Who are your biggest influences?

Musical influences, just a few of them! are Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Ella Fitzgerald, Mozart, Debussy, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Judy Garland, Doc Watson, Sting, Stevie Wonder…there are so many.

Tell us about your passions

My daughter is my Sunshine, so just being her Mom has brought the greatest love of my life. I am passionate about my spiritual path, which I don’t really discuss or go into detail about but it is an exciting journey that is a constant force and keeps me going. Art in every form is another passion – I love literature and read voraciously; art history, painting, sculpture, photography, film, dance, theater…all kinds of creative expression thrills me! Nature: I go to the wild Sonoma Coast almost every single weekend and hope to live right on the beach one day soon. The redwoods. Just walking anywhere outdoors. And birds…I am that crazy bird lady ’cause I am crazy about birds! And I love plants and gardening and recently got into bonsais.

And then there’s Music: it’s not something I think of as a separate passion…it’s just everywhere and with me all the time.

What else is happening next in your world?

I’m getting set up to record guitar and vocal tracks at home. I have a little experience with ProTools and LogicPro, but I need to learn how to best mic my guitars, to get a great sound so that I can then send tracks to the guys and start working on the next record. We’re figuring out how we’re going to record remotely; our drummer moved to the East Coast and with the pandemic don’t know when or how we’ll be able to record together. Recently we’re experiencing our third year in a row of terrible wildfires and the resulting smoke, ash, and bad air quality, which, combined with the pandemic and all that’s going on with that, is making for challenging times. If I can start this next recording project, that will really help keep me focused on the creative process. I’m also learning PremierPro and have created two videos of my songs (they’re on YouTube) and I’m working on two more…I love that project, it’s really fun but very time-consuming….video editors., you have my respect!!

I knew it would contain some of my best music, and it did, and I knew I would make some breakthroughs with it, and I did. By the time you get to your fifth album you should know what you’re doing. You’ve got maybe forty five recordings behind you and by then you should be able to craft music exactly how you want it. It’s all in the detail and when the detail mounts up into something substantial then you know you’ve created something good. Deal with the small things and the whole looks after itself.

REVIEW: Gritty harmonica, fuzz guitars, a touch of the Velvet Underground. The album has beautiful production that bears a comparison with Lou Reed. It’s radio-friendly but experiments with all kinds of sounds. From ripping, distorted unexpected guitar solos to a large orchestra and the accelerator is pressed firmly to the floor at all times. Nigel says: You have to change the process of making music if you want to make something out of the ordinary. You have to exchange your normal methods of working for something different. I exchanged a conventional drum kit for clanging pieces of metal on many tracks and I also spent a huge amount of time working on string and piano arrangements as well as using sound effects and creating orchestral horn parts so that by the time it got to recording guitars, there was almost no room in the arrangement for them, which again meant I had to come up with something different.

Nigel says: MY STORY: Due to a car accident at the age of 23 while working at AIR Montserrat, I injured my hand and couldn’t play the guitar for nearly thirty years. A Harley Davidson with a heavy clutch lever brought my hand back to life seven years ago. So in many ways I am restoring the career I didn’t have…but thirty years late. Should I feel bitter about that?… Well no. I’ve adjusted to the fact, but it took time. I had some success writing screenplays and directing movies for a living but to be honest what I do now musically wouldn’t have been technically possible before 2004. That was when affordable recording software and vast libraries of virtual instruments became available on a laptop. So I am a child of my time!

The future? I’m looking forward to album six. Gonna do a few covers I think, and I’m making a list. It’s a pretty eccentric list so its taking some time to collect enough tracks to start, but as soon as that list is long enough I’ll get started. Tracks by Dorothy, Black Casino and The Ghost, Eric Johanson, and Damon Fowler are high on the list. Watch this space!

Tell us about yourself and your music

I was raised in the south of France; studied music from a young age, pursued it through music school when I was 18 then moved to Paris to start working as a session guitar player in my early 20s.
Then 10 years ago I moved to Los Angeles where I started to play in bands as well as doing the session thing on and off. I began working on my solo project a year ago more for therapy than anything else. Elated with the results I decided to polish it up and release a debut EP this past summer titled “Organized Mess” featuring a music video for that eponym song.

Talk to us more about your latest release

Having written a full-length album, I decided to split it into 2 EP releases: a first one in June titled “Organized Mess” with 5 original songs and a cover from Sparkle Horse called “Painbirds”; a second EP titled “Brightest Aching Scar” out early November with a total of 6 songs each featuring a different female vocalist. For that one, I decided to release each song on their own throughout the month of October to give each release, and each female feature more attention and more weight.
The first single “Cast me for the End” will be out on October 2nd followed by a music video starring a character struggling with bipolarity.

What inspired you to write this release?

All the songs I wrote for the 2 EPs I put out are based on past and present relationships and self-introspection analysis. The song “Cast me for the End” reflects the struggle of a person with his/her bipolarity, trying to bury once for all the other side of the personality that can appear when not invited looking to set the tone of the show.

Describe the writing and recording process

Each song on those 2 EPs released this year was written and recorded in a day. That was the only criterion (without necessarily being one) I required myself to have for this music because as it was coming fast I wanted to keep the flow without asking myself too many questions and create too many doubts. It all came out naturally. I didn’t sense in the end I was imposing myself anything, it just happened this way. That’s probably why all the songs have a common touch and feel honest to me.

Any plans to release a video?

Any plans to hit the road?

So far with the pandemic situation, there aren’t any plans. I’m trying to focus on a few things and right now I’m treating this project as a recording project mainly. It’s not off the table to perform it live but everything comes in time and happens for a reason. I needed to write those songs in order to purge myself, I needed to release this music in order to “close the chapter”, maybe I’ll need to perform the songs live later on… who knows?

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

It’s a tough question. I try to be as honest as possible. I never thought of any kind of branding when writing that music. Whether it’s the melody, the lyrics, the arrangements, the choice of what to play when… it was just happening naturally and I never had to make those decisions. So now talking about branding something that was not made in that sense, it can be a hard thing to approach. I hope this music can resonate with some people going through the same kind of situation in their lives and maybe will give them a sense of an answer if they’re searching for one.

Who have you been listening to lately?

I try to listen to as many different things as possible. But to be honest, I don’t know if I can say “I’ve been trying” but the result is that I haven’t spent as much time lately (for the past year) listening to new music. There wasn’t necessarily a reason behind but in the end, I think I didn’t want to try to be influenced by any new artists that I would be fond of in order to create my own music outside of any specific code.

Who are your biggest influences?

The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Elliot Smith, Radiohead, the guitar playing of Jonny Greenwood, Marc Ribot, or even Nels Cline are some of the influences amongst many. I try to keep my ears, eyes, and heart open for any music or style. But the 60’s pop with 70’s psychedelia mixed with the grunge/post-punk ’90s and a touch of avant-garde experimental/noise music is at the core what warms my sense and give me fuel to keep creating.

Tell us about your passions

You know like Jimi Hendrix was saying “Music doesn’t lie. If there’s something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music”. It is for me the purest art form that leaves your mind an empty territory to absorb and create without the limitation of the eyes.

The gift of art is a blessing as it carries your life and shows you what beauty can be, in a desert starry night, or in the darkest abyssal pain.

But the gift of art is a curse as it follows you until you pass and no other passion will ever stand next to it.

What else is happening next in your world?

I’m working with a few different bands. Releasing new music with 2 of the next year: Low Hum and Dream Phases, both based out of Los Angeles.

I’ve been working on another project called CARRÉ since 2019 with 2 French drummers, tying together electronic music and touches of industrial, a blend of European rigid electro and anglo Saxon heavy riffs. We released a first EP with a few music videos earlier this year.

What’s New Brother H-963?

Tell us about yourself and your music

Well – I was your above average Architect minding his own business and designing hospitals, office buildings, and residential schemes- and enjoying it. Until 4 or so years ago I had a lifechanging bolt that started with an ordinary investment in a music school just adjacent to my office. So now and again I’d pop to check on how the teachers were doing and find myself on the piano at lunchtime and then all the free time I could. At this point, I was challenged to take my next grade of classical piano exams that I had last done over two and a half decades before. And as the mastery came back so did new tunes and songs and the rest is history as they say.
I have sometimes struggled to box my music to a specific genre beyond stating its always contemporary praise and worship with direct biblical lyrics. For instance, ‘Sing to the Lord’ is somewhat soft-rock with a touch of RNB, and a little gospel is woven in. The music will lean towards one or the other of these sub-genres in different songs. I try to keep the harmonies simple, with a memorable hook that hopefully catches and teaches you something every time you sing it.

Talk to us more about your latest release

I was seated in the living room with my elder son looking on noisily strumming my black guitar. And there dropped the melody of what I thought was a beautiful song. And you never want to forget a tune so I hit the record button on my phone
And that’s when my frustrations began.
I was quickly ably to write the lyrics of the song taken from Psalms 96:1-4. But my producer was off the tracks and out with the declare his glory song leaving out what I thought was half the song.
“It’s too long! The rest must become another song.”
And so ‘Declare His Glory’ divorced its twin ‘Sing to the Lord’ and had to wait another year to be born!
But the wait has been worthwhile as only the key remains the same and ‘Sing to the Lord’ evolved into a much more lively upbeat song.

What inspired you to write this release?

Hallelujah!

Allow me to repeat a story I’ve told again and again. Back in college as I was learning Architecture I was a member of our Christian fellowship we called MCCU. And as once in a while, I’d get a chance to lead worship I had the habit of saying Hallelujah a lot. And that’s how I got my nickname ‘Brother Hallelujah’.

When I started my singing career I thought that Brother H might be a cool name but upon my first release, I realized that there is at least one other Brother H and our discography kept on being mixed up.

To solve this I fell back to my social media tag/handle I’d been using @brotherh963. The numbers were initially chosen, by what I’d imagine was my bored assistant – ‘just-pick-the-numbers-on-the-right-of-your-keyboard-thing’ -when Facebook is looking for a unique name.

Brother H-963 as I suddenly became started wondering how to answer that question. Why 963? So in addition to this long rumble –I thought to check all the bible verses that were ‘963’ As it turned out- there is only one.

Psalms 96:3 says to ‘Declare His glory among the Nations.’

And so when the twin tunes for ‘Sing to the Lord’ in Psalms 96:1-2 and ‘Declare His Glory’ dropped that afternoon in the living room I found the two songs that encapsulate my life mission.

And that is the longhand story that inspired my ‘Sing to the Lord’ song.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

I’d like to be known as an authentic Christian, transparent through my funny name and reeking-sweet fragrance that speaks of Jesus. There is a tonne of Indie Music out there, but song after song, I’d like to make a sound that expresses the song, not so much bound by the limits of genre, but by the feeling and message I’d like the music to convey.

I would also like my wholeness to come through whether as an author, music teacher, Architect family-man, and Mentor. All these things I hope would make you see me simply as your brother.

Who have you been listening to lately?

‘ This is my Worship ‘ by Phil Thompson is a song that is ringing within me in this season. It’s amazing in the face of so much pain, death, and grief that we can still find the faith to sing “I will not be silent! No. I will always worship you.”

Two other wonderful pieces though very different come to mind.

The first is Elevation worship’s ‘ Do it Again ‘ that speaks about walking drudgingly around the daunting and tauntingly-thick Jericho walls that I expected to have fallen by now. This song reminds me that God will yet honor our confidence in Him – as he has not failed us yet. And He will yet do it again.

The third piece is ‘ Take 5 ‘ a 1959 Jazz Classic by Paul Desmond that appeared in Dave Brubecks Quartet’s LP ‘ Time out ’. It’s amazing polishing my acoustic guitar skills on this piece – Work in progress especially on the semi-quavers. Very enjoyable work indeed.

Who are your biggest influences?

Brother H-963 takes time to teach guitar and Piano. Many of these students are elementary students working to do different classical pieces for graded ABRSM exams. The syllabus of these pieces draws from popular classical pieces as well as Jazz favorites. Much of ‘Brother H-963’ tunes are in some way or other influenced by this music blended with contemporary praise and worship music.

Nothing would be more meaningful than being the ‘model Dad’ I hope I am, to my basket of three chaps.

On a great day, I seat at a table, work out building details, and eventually execute them and watch the wonder of what each line means especially when what I meant it to be becomes realized in built-form.

Sometimes I write. I am a published author – and will be writing more. The last book is a sight-reading book’ Andrews’ sight-reading method’

I do enjoy tinkering with the guitar and piano

And singing bowed in worship- lost in adoring surrender to a LORD who would die for me.

And I speak of him- passionately.

What else is happening next in your world?

Its been a year since my last ‘Christian’ release. I see this frequency changing. More covers and collaborations are coming up. If I get a moment I will expand my music teaching book series. I’m Lattney B. and I’m from rural southeast Arizona. I make music in my living room and incorporate any style that works for the song. I like to think the resulting sound isn’t confined too tightly to a single genre.

Talk to us more about your latest release

I wrote and recorded “Believe Us” as Saint Nefarious. Its entire focus is mental illness and the need for mental health issues to be widely addressed and destigmatized. All revenue from “Believe Us” goes to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (nami.org).

What inspired you to write this release?

Mental illness, to varying degrees, runs through both sides of my family. When I was a child, we didn’t talk about it. Any show of anxiety or panic wasn’t only seen as a show of weakness, it was something that none of the adults could handle because they experienced it, as well—and nobody knew how to deal with it or would even admit to having it themselves.

Describe the writing and recording process

I record through a few DAWs on my PC. I have mostly cheap or low-end equipment, but the quality of the tools has never held me back or kept me from getting the sounds I want.

For me, a song can be built from anything: a bassline, a chord progression, a verbal phrase, a melody from a dream, or even a sound I hear in the house. I tend to throw everything but the house into arrangements but have learned to scale back judiciously.

Any plans to hit the road?

I haven’t played live in several years and the midst of a pandemic isn’t the time to start. Every onstage experience was both a thrill and a terror episode, and it would be exciting to experience all of that again.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

Aside from a few hand-drawn or handmade sleeve covers, I don’t know how to brand. I think I’m able to stand out somewhat under my voice. I’m not trained and I sometimes struggle to hit the right notes, but I think the rawness and emotion are there.

Who have you been listening to lately?

I’m a fan of Bandcamp and have enjoyed discovering artists on that platform. I’m affiliated with the Ball of Wax (ballofwax.org) extended family of artists, most of whom are based in Seattle, and the breadth and variety of talent and styles there is stunning.

Who are your biggest influences?

I grew up listening primarily to The Beatles but cut my pre-teen teeth on New Order, Depeche Mode, and The Cure. Bauhaus, Joy Division, and Echo & the Bunnymen rounded out my darker inclinations. The Fall, The Mekons, and Pavement made me realized that great music can be sloppy and lo-fi, and The Brian Jonestown Massacre impressed that an artist need not stick to any genre.

Tell us about your passions

My dad ran theaters throughout my lifetime, so I love movies, though I’ve transitioned from big-budget Hollywood fluff to loving independent and foreign cinema. I’m a sound junkie, which means a film with thoughtful sound design hits the sweet spot.

I read a lot of Faulkner and Barthelme and I’m not immune to classics. I like to write both technically and creatively. My last job involved a great deal of writing policies and procedures and I loved it.

I never made it art school, but I also like to draw. I did the artwork for a few releases by one of my side projects.

What else is happening next in your world?

Grumpy Bear, my main musical project with Tyler Blake, my bestie and brother-in-arms, just put out an EP, Soledad, to coincide with the release of a friend’s art journal of the same name. We’re also polishing up to ten tracks for the next full release from Grumpy Bear.

I am an artist who writes from experience, therefore my songs are personal. I like to write from my heart that way people can get to know me through my music.

My latest release called Weathered the Storm is an EP based off of my current relationship. I wrote these songs based on my love for the man in my life. Most are R&B, there’s a pop song on there and even one gospel song!

What inspired you to write this release?

What inspired me to write this release is the emotional feelings I have for my man. He in turn inspired me to do this release just not for him but for me as well, to do something I had never done which was to share my music with the world. It is a great feeling!

Describe the writing and recording process

The writing came pretty easy, I never really have a problem coming up with a song. Since I am also a poet it just flows. The recording process was a little bit more challenging because I wanted the sound to be just right.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

As an Indie Artist, I stand out from the rest by my unique voice. It’s very different and distinct. It is not your typical R&B voice you hear on the radio every day.

Who have you been listening to lately?

I have been listening to Beyoncé, Faith Evans, and Keyshia Cole

Who are your biggest influences?

Beyoncé definitely because I like that she’s just being herself. I also like Fantasia because like me she can sing both gospel and R&B which is something I enjoy doing. Actually I started out singing gospel then switched over to R&B. I switched over when I was inspired to write love songs to my man.

Tell us about your passions

My passion is God first, my man, singing and writing poetry and books. I also have a poetry book out on Amazon called Inspirational Poems and an autobiography on there as well entitled Quiet Storms in the Walls.

What else is happening next in your world?

What is happening next in my world is that I’m currently working on releasing a double album this year. One CD will be gospel and the other R&B. The gospel CD is song I’ve written over the years previously. The R&B songs on the album will be from last year and this year.

How do you fit living ten lives in a paragraph? Haha! I came to Australia at the age of 10. English being my second language, made my school life not so pleasant. I struggled and failed most subjects. I skipped school many times forging my parent’s signature. At 16 I bought an electric guitar and took only a few lessons. The idea of me doing music was destroyed by verbal abuse by someone I looked up to. I dropped out of school. I’ve had many different jobs as well as owning my own Interior Design business. I also designed and opened a Coffee shop. When I sold my Coffee shop, my body gave up and I fell sick to the point I was lifeless and forced to eat. After getting my full strength back, other personal battles came up. I was tired of many things. I fell into depression and hardly came out of my room for a while. I wanted my life to change. The universe got involved and started rearranging my life. I got into acting. I wanted to have fun. I was tired of the negative. 2 years before my marriage ended I started to sign my art with my first name. This I acknowledged after my split when I matched my Art with my poetry. It’s like my soul knew the marriage was ending. I have been in 4 very different relationships. My second marriage ended 11 years later. We separated acknowledging we were living a lie towards the end. We accepted what we were unaware of and moved forward. We both agreed, our being together was to help bring up my daughter. Although my mother was extremely angry with me at the time, she bought me a guitar. I planned only putting my energy into creating the song “One Day I Wish.” I guess my soul had other plans. Even though I struggled with paying for my living for nearly 5 years, and at times wanting to give up, my music was helping me heal and kept me going. Being on my own and free, my mind started questioning many different things. I started working with energy more. I connected to different abilities of self-healing. My inner child got very curious about going beyond this reality due to what I was experiencing. NO drugs involved. Just my mind and God, Universe and Nature showing me evidence as I asked. I wrote more lyrics while working with a producer. The music was flowing naturally. The hard part was trying to find my voice in the beginning. I didn’t like vocal exercises and I struggled. I had to stop working with the producer due to not having enough money so I was pushed to work on my music on my own. When I started deep healing on my self, my voice started to transform naturally. All my songs have a very different energy. I can’t wait to record my Rock songs! After writing my first Rock song, the very next day I walked straight into a second-hand shop that had the electric guitar I wanted as a teenager. I bought it with part of my rent money. I just had to have it! My songs are full of true pure passion and positivity. I only wish to lift people.

Talk to us more about your latest release

Although I wasn’t going to release this song, I decided to for the story behind how my voice came to life. I only realized a week after my daughter’s wedding, the big change in my vocal. I’ve had my current phone since the time I did my first recording. When I heard my voice now, 7 years later, I completely broke down. I felt at that moment everything I had healed and also all I connected with to create my peaceful voice. Through my healing, I came to understand energy on a deeper level. How far deep the conditioning of our mind goes and so much more.

What inspired you to write this release?

My daughter was only 16 when she met her partner. The love I’ve sensed and seen between these two beautiful beings is what inspired me to write this song.

Describe the writing and recording process

This was the first short tune I just flowed out in 2012. I only had the first and second verses created back then. I reconnected with the tune in early 2019 briefly. Two weeks before my daughter’s wedding, I asked myself self “what is the best way to finalize the song?” The words just came out naturally and I had my rough demo ready. Four days before the wedding I added some drum beats and recorded the song. It is a very simple song.

I’ve only released 3 songs at this stage. I will finalize and continue to release my music and I will let the Universe decide what is best for me. In my heart, I would like to put all my skills together and open an Entertainment restaurant venue where not only I perform my music, where other Artists have the opportunity to do so as well. Each evening with a completely different energy. Positive encouragement for all. Music, Drama, and Dancing. Anyway, let’s see what happens.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

What one expresses through music, what it means to them I feel should be most important. I ask my self what best way to express and let my words flow out. Sometimes words flow out and I am unsure why. They just have so much feeling behind them. Is it a fantasy? Am I creating something I desire? Time will tell. Do I stand out? I don’t know every Artist. Let me just say, with so much negativity in the world, I chose to create music that is full of love, passion, and positive vibrational energy. I wish to create different energy through my songs. I allow my music to flow out at the right time. Although I put myself under pressure with many things, some things require a precise moment. My dance song “Put your body next to mine” is created from an acoustic version. I love to dance so I said to myself self why not make one of my songs a dance song. One night after midnight I picked a drumbeat and immediately started singing the song completely different. I recorded the idea and let my mind work on it while focusing on other music. Months later I just picked up my iPad and added other upbeat sounds to finalize the music. During this time I was still creating my voice through my healing. I wasn’t aware at first my voice was changing naturally through my healing process. Once I acknowledged this, I started experimenting and asking the universe to flow healing vibration through my voice and energy as well.

Who have you been listening to lately?

Mostly I have been listening to music from the 60s and 70s. I have been very disconnected from the world last 5years. Now starting to reconnect. When I hear music nowadays, the words are angry and depressing in so many songs. It makes me sad. I love uplifting music.

Who are your biggest influences?

When I was a kid, I’d listen to ABBA, The Beatles and Elvis. As a teenager, I loved listening to Kiss, AC/DC, Metallica, Motley Crew & other Rock bands. I also loved Madonna, Boy George, and other pop stars. I could never have a favorite. I always appreciated different styles of music. Who am influenced by? Good question!

Tell us about your passions

My passion besides my music is the desire to help others to help themselves. I feel sad when I sense another human being suffering inside. I am highly empathetic. I have learned not to take on other’s pain. I understand it is out of my hands. I do know I can be there when I can. If I sense someone isn’t ok, I ask and offer to help. When I help another I feel I am helping my self. I believe we are all one. People trust me and feel comfortable opening up to me. It makes me feel I am of value to this world in some way. I think one of the saddest things in this world is that people have to pay for someone to listen to what they feel. I know there are many free phone lines created for support. Some people just give up and this hurts my soul. Music uplifts me and helps me heal. Acting creates a bit of different fun in my life. My mind excites me when I work out something on my own. I love using my mind.

What else is happening next in your world?

I wish to create enough money to have my own space and have more free time to do my music. Although it was a struggle for some time, I did start making extra money, just not the required amount to live comfortably. Nearly 2 years I lived without a fridge. Few times I almost applied for government assistance. I’d yell at the Universe “I wanted to create my own money!” So I’d get more work. Before Xmas 2019, the Universe decided to throw me out from where I lived. I sensed I wasn’t welcome there and didn’t feel at home anymore. I got evicted. There was only one way I could move. I had to be out by a particular time to get my bond back. I had no savings. I prayed between work like never before saying “Thank you God and Universe creating for me the right home to live!” 4 days later my wish came true. When I moved, my finances got so much better. I paid less rent and my wage almost tripled. I could easily afford food and pay bills. When the world went in lockdown, I got low on energy tasting the fear. I used my powerful healing ability to release it and disconnect from it. A few days later I was fine. Although I lost some work, I got through. It hasn’t been easy for many of us. Now things getting slowly better, I am focused on creating better for my self. As much as it is ok where I am, it is very noisy. I live with 6 young people. I require my own space. I love my determined stubborn inner child! I send my love to the world and wish we all find peace and heal.

Hi, my name is Gino White. I am a rap artist from Pulaski, TN. I am also the owner of Mobb House Studio, located in Pulaski, TN. I have been writing music since I was about 16 years of age and I am currently 34 years of age. I’d like to think of my music as “experience music.” Experience music is self-explanatory. As an artist, I like to incorporate my own experiences more so than talking about someone else’s experiences. My goal is to simply speak through lyrics. A stranger made me realize what my calling was. It’s not the music itself, it’s speaking through my lyrics while using music as the vessel to speak with and I am very grateful for that.

Pain In Me is the very first album by Gino White that will be released to the world. All production is handled by Legion Beats. In which, I must give a big thank you to Gabe Schillinger and the whole Legion Beats team providing a great opportunity for independent artists, such as myself. This album happened by accident. As I was in the process of working on another project, I recorded a song called Pain In Me. After recording the song, it was an instant spark of an idea to name my very first album, Pain In Me. The idea of Pain In Me derived from a psychological standpoint. Pain In Me features the lead single, Feel Like Me (Feat. June B) that is available on all major streaming platforms. This album will capture those that can relate to psychological pain. Not to bore you with tracks dealing with pain, we spiced it up with tracks like, Feel Like Me, You Feel Me, and Are U Down. The set date for a release of Pain In Me is set for September 18th, 2020.

What inspired you to write this release?

I was inspired by my current trials and tribulations that I am dealing with. Experience has always been my best way to express myself through my lyrics. At the current moment of writing this project, I was dealing with things ranging from the thought of doing prison time and being away from my children for a long time. From my cousins passing away over 10 years ago, they never were able to see the progression in my artistry. Being able to keep their names alive through music is also a big inspiration when I create music.

Describe the writing and recording process

When I recording the first song, Pain In Me, it created that spark to record a whole album called Pain In Me. After recording that first song, I put a goal together with the writer at least one song per day and record one song per day. Some days, I was able to write and record two to three songs in a day. The process I used in writing and recording is that I would start with writing the hook of a song (if the hook wasn’t already there). Most times, As soon as I have the hook completed, I’d record it and then get back to writing the verse. There would be times I would record the verse as soon as I was finished writing it. Other times, I’d write the full song and then record it. From the writing to recording, I sequenced every track as if they were being played on the album. In other words, I wrote and recorded every song in the order that they are in for the album’s tracklist.

I try my best to network with as many different people as I can as I try to be cautious for I know everyone doesn’t have a good heart. Upon meeting new fans, I try to accommodate with free music or merchandise.

I have been listening to T.E.C, Maine Music, Mo3, Boosie Bad Azz, Fredo Bang, Big Boogie, Kevo Muney, Pretty Ricky, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Denise Moore, Lecrae, 1K Phew, God’s Energii, Webbie. That’s just a small list of who I’ve been listening to. There’s quite a few to name. Ranging from mainstream to indie.

Who are your biggest influences?

Master P is at the top of my list of people that influence me. Master P is one of the greatest businessmen in my generation of rap music. Everything I do, I try to incorporate some type of knowledge from Master P.

Tell us about your passions

My passions include but are not limited to, being involved in music in any kind of way I possibly can, being a father to my children, sports (mainly basketball). I enjoy being outdoors traveling.

What else is happening next in your world?

While I prepare to release Pain In Me, I am already in the process of completed my second album, titled, Self Certified. I plan to put together a 5 city tour around Tennessee and eventually spread out to the other states and cities. Aiming At The Stars is John Greska’s debut vocal EP that uses instrumental concepts explored in his previous albums to bring a new edge to modern indie pop and alternative music. The EP itself tells the tale of the choice every person has between falling into the pattern of everyday life or risking that routine to follow their dreams.

What inspired you to write this release?

I was inspired by my previous instrumental releases and was encouraged to add lyrics to this release, describing the pieces as a description of everyday routine life and learning to enjoy every second of it.

Describe the writing and recording process

The writing process involves coming up with several different tunes, creating the backing track, and then recording the vocals. It helps when the mailman is not around because the dogs will bark when he is delivering for a long time!

Any plans to release a video?

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

To stand out from the rest of the artists out there, I try to brand myself with the inclusion of orchestral and classical instruments on top of synthesized electronic instruments.

My biggest influences include AJR and Jon Bellion.

The coronavirus is happening right now. In terms of my specific world, I’m watching Season 2 of Ozark. That’s pretty good.

Chris BEER is known for tackling thorny subjects that affect us all and yet are often inadequately represented in mainstream culture.
His new release ‚Any time soon‘ celebrates the human mind’s ability to adapt to challenging circumstances. After all, it is often in the face of adversity that one finds out how strong one truly is. It is dedicated to those struggling with mental/physical illness.

What inspired you to write this release?

My Inspiration is my motivation to give back what great songs/music of artists like Johnny Cash, Sting, Bob Marley or Jonathan Richman gave me. A world to dive into challenging times, where one hears and connects to true stories/emotions and feelings-of magical moments/good times and also of loss and failure and feeling hurt/vulnerable.

Describe the writing and recording process

The original theme usually comes from whatever is happening to others in my surroundings or myself. Then I sit with my guitar in my home studio and jam around with paper and pencil nearby-until something arrives, that refuses to leave :-)

When it hooks me and captures my attention, I have the feeling others will connect to it as well.

And when it feels just right, I know it is finished. That process can take hours, days or even years…and most song ideas never make it onto a record.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

A lot of pop music is aiming to be larger than life. I strive for capturing the imperfections of life/music and the beauty within. I see myself as a vehicle to deliver the vibe of the particular song. That is why stylistic variety is what makes me stand out. That also has its’ disadvantages as we humans tend to want more of the same-when we like something. But an owl will never be a turtle-you have to be true to yourself above all.

Who have you been listening to lately?

So many….last few days….alt-j, Koffee, Bedouin Soundclash, Milky Chance, Josh Ritter and of course Paul Simon, as he just retired recently.

Who are your biggest influences?

My parents showed me by the example of how art, music, literature, theatre, and comedy can light your fire and give you strength.

Tell us about your passions

I love creating something out of nothing. I like recording music and working on projects with others until one has reached a goal. I like editing and shooting videos and combining it with sound.

What else is happening next in your world?

As of right now. I am spending a lot of time at home with my children and wife (who is also working in the home office and focusing on small things/day to day life.

We the people should just start all over by being great Americans to ourselves first and then the rest of the world. We must love and be kind to one another.
