Death-defying drops, a delightfully dark atmosphere and a raw, ravenous energy that just keeps giving. Welcome to the exhilarating new world of Pacemkr , an emerging electronic artist currently bringing his bold, daring stylings to the global stage. His sound blurs the line between so many styles. From the earth shattering wobbles of dubstep to the euphoria dripped EDM melodies, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in his slick selection of tracks.

Inspired by the horror movies he watched growing up, Pacemkr’s vibe is distinctly dark. His songs yank us right into a world of grimey basslines and spooky synths that’s impossible not to love. The intensity of the drops will have you right on the edge of your seat. It’s truly awe-inspiring the way he manages to pull together such a perfect range of sounds. The producer crafts his astounding anthems completely from scratch before independently releasing them for the world to enjoy. He’s already amassed a following in the thousands worldwide for his gritty sound.

His relentless work ethic has seen him release 12 singles in 2020. He currently has a highly-anticipated EP in the works which is quite hush hush at the moment but is bound to be brilliant like the rest of his work. The name Pacemkr comes from a certain part of his life. It was when his heart stopped and he had to have a pacemaker implanted. It was at this point he realized how short life is. That it can be taken away in a moment. And so he set out to follow his dreams in music by any means necessary.

Growing up I have always had a love for music. Being from NY we had a lot of access to different music genres. I have always been into the dance, dance-pop, EDM genre of music. As a kid growing up I used to pretend I was on the radio mixing songs together like a DJ. Sadly my music interest was placed on hold while I focused on my career in aviation. After that, I remember what was missing in my life. Being a flight attendant allowed me to research, get ideas, write music and melodies. Finally, I get the opportunity to publish music and it truly has to be the happiest I have ever imagined I could be. I hope it is a lasting career and that you enjoy the music I create just as much as I do. My songs are a reflection of me and what has happened in my life and what I hope does in the future. My lyrics are from my past, present, and future. Being apart of the LGBT community it was hard growing up feeling like you don’t belong or you’re different. Feeling like who are, and what you want out of life is wrong. The music I create is to help everyone be true to who they are and know that you are loved and should always be yourself. Be the best version of it. You should never feel like you need to impress in order to be happy. We need to be happy with the person we are, and the music I create is in hopes that we one day truly believe this. For just the duration of my songs, I hope that we can let go and be in the moment. Smile, Laugh, Be happy, and BE YOU. I hope you all enjoy it!

Talk to us more about your latest release

Each of my singles is created for different reasons. Feel good was created to help everyone know that they are needed and that no one is more important or less important than anyone else. We are all equal. If you look at the singles album cover it is red and blue smoke that’s coming off of my body. This is supposed to symbolize good and evil being released. The main reason it is both good and evil is that we need to let go of everything inside good and bad and just be in the here and now. Just enjoy the moment on the same level and page as everyone else. It’s important in life to make sure no aspect overpowers the other and to have that balance in life. Too many people these days think they are above everyone and I created this single to make sure we can all come together s one.

What inspired you to write this release?

Too many people these days think they are better than everyone and I created this single to make sure we can all come together. Part of my inspiration was when I was in cities where the rioting and protesting took place. It pained me to see so many people in pain and there was nothing I could do, so I turned to music. It was important to me to write a song where we are able to release everything and come together where everyone is equal and everyone can just let go, let the music in, and feel like nothing else matters in that moment but the sense of being together and feeling good. It is time to let go even for just the duration of my song and just let the music in and come together.

Describe the writing and recording process

Being a flight attendant, it brings me to many cities and I get to see the world for these different locations. All this inspiration makes it easy for me to begin creating and begin to write or produce while I’m there because, especially in today’s world, things are very different all over. My inspiration from my newest single is from again the sense of everyone coming together and just being yourself. After I get the idea of my song I begin figuring out the melodies and how to bring it together and then I begin creating. After the melodies are put together I start writing the lyrics if the song requires them

Any plans to hit the road?

I was planning on publishing my music and possibly performing in some local places before COVID hit. Living in South Florida, EDM, and dance-pop music are very popular so I feel like I would fit in genre-wise very easily. As the world needs to adapt, we all do as well living in it. I’m now trying to get ideas on how to move forward over just creating music. Possibly doing some live streams or maybe even areas more open to doing performances in parks that will allow it under the social distancing rules. I’m currently working on a music video for “Dance Together” and “Be You” to keep my listeners engaged before I can figure out how to to do more of “live” interaction. I will have all my announcements and events posted to my website nickcalarco.com when I can figure it all out.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

I am actually an EDM, Dance, Dance-pop artist. But my music stands out more than the other artist out there because each song is created as a reflection on me the type of person I am, and what I have experiences of want to in the future. I don’t want to have a song that has an empty meaning, or create a song just because I need a filler. I feel that creating music that comes from the heart and soul helps create a bond with my fans and helps them relate.

Who have you been listening to lately?

My favorite artist is Lady Gaga, Kylie Minougue, Zedd, Calvin Harris, Kygo, Steve Aoki, Kaskade, and so many more.

Who are your biggest influences?

My personal life heroes have always been my parents and my grandparents. They are the strongest people I know and without them and their true support I would have never made it even close to where I am now.

My musical inspirations have always been Lady Gaga and Kylie Minogue. Their songs have always made me feel loved and included, where I can just be myself and know that there’s no reason I have to change. I’m loved for being me and that’s exactly how it should be. Not because of race, color, sexual preference, none of it, I am who I am and that is enough. I want my music to help bring those eases, and troubles out of everyone’s life as much as they did for me. All of this is also inspiring me to create an organization to help people get through their life’s troubles. I want to try and created one that donates money and time in helping people be themselves and get through their times in need. Celebrate their times in joy and happiness. I’ve always been about giving back, and if I’m successful in my music career my goal will always be just that, never less, and always more. People need to be celebrated in their good and bad times because helping someone whose really down brings them to the point of being able to celebrate them when you pick them up.

Tell us about your passions

My passions have always been flying, music, and helping people. Always loved flying and airplanes and becoming a pilot and flight attendant has helped me stay in that industry. I was always the one who stopped and stared at the planes flying over, still do. Music was always my outlet, the only true aspect where I felt like I truly belonged. Felt included in the songs of my favorite artist which is the main reason I become an artist. I have always wanted to give back to everyone I possibly can. I have always lived by the golden rule as well as paying it forward. It is important to me to help bring people up because you never truly know what is going on in their day and life and even a simple smile can help wonders on someone.

What else is happening next in your world?

I was planning on publishing my music and possibly performing in some local places. Now I am just trying to adapt to the sad reality of the new normal. I’m now trying to get ideas on how to move forward over just creating music. Possibly doing some live streams or maybe even areas more open to doing performances in parks that will allow it under the social distancing rules. I have recently submitted my album “My Strength” which consists of 15 songs and I am so excited to get it out there. I will have all my announcements and events posted to my website nickcalarco.com when I can figure it all out

This is the case for artist David Raynolds, who is back on the scene with a stunning new single, Ionize.

What makes this song special is the fact that the production is very good, and the elements in the project are very balanced, creating a perfect equilibrium, with just the right bias of technical excellence and performance essence. The first thing you’ll notice is certainly the high quality of this production, in terms of sonic aesthetics. This is the quintessential EDM track, but there is also a nice Dancehall vibe, with a different groove to it. The instrumental mix is balanced and direct, with a really deep low end and a crunchy mid-range that adds a lot of excitement to the track. In addition to that, the treble range is smooth and bright, adding a lot of silky edge to the mix, and allowing the main melodies in the song to pop to the forefront of the mix.

As the title might suggest, IONIZE is a highly energetic production, with a fast-paced rhythm that will make you want to jump on the dance floor like there’s no tomorrow. The kick sounds insane and the bass cuts through the mix, without ever sounding muddy or overpowering, allowing all the other elements to coexist in a perfectly balanced way. It’s often said that the hallmark of a good EDM production is in the quality of the low end in the mix, and David has got this aspect figured out to the last beat.

In other words, this is a song that sounds polished and contemporary, but at the same time, it also has that unmistakable sound that’s so deeply related to the artist’s personality and background. This song recalls the sound of artists such as David Guetta, Pitbull, and Marco Carola, and if you like any of the aforementioned artists, chances are, you are going to love what you hear on David’s brand new release, IONIZE. This is recommended to any fan of punchy rhythms and gripping melodies.

ABOUT

The ‘Star Wars’ prequels were coming to an end, the US was gaining their own ‘Office,’ and Coldplay released their third studio album, ‘X&Y,’ not knowing someone who’d soon grow up idolizing their ways was being born. That someone was David Raynolds.

The Canadian-born singer/actor found himself immersed in music early in life, playing and composing on a toy piano at one-years-old. His compositions sensibly melodic and in key. From the beginning, he’s enjoyed listening to classical composers including Vivaldi, Beethoven, Mozart, and pop/rock bands like Queen.

Recently David released a series of original songs (Nuclear, We Are The Voice, Ionize) for his audience promoting hope, happiness, the bright side of human life.

I started being a fan of electronic music at around 19 – 20 years old. Fell in love with love and these were the first times I ever went to a show, concert, music festival, etc. At 21 I decided that I really wanted to learn how to make music, this was the year 2014. My first official release ever was in 2016 with a song called ‘Pilot.’ At 21, I was really into house music, then trance and then started leaning towards more of a chill genre like future bass (Illenium, Flume, Chainsmokers, etc.) so I decided I wanted to learn how to make future bass music.

Talk to us more about your latest release

My latest original release was actually a collaboration with a friend of mine who goes by “Middle Child” and ended up featuring a violinist from Indonesia by the name of “Belski” but ended up changing her alias to “Virtualyx.” This one is definitely one of my more melodic projects and knowing Middle Child’s work, I knew it was going to be a perfect fit for him. And fortunately, this song is my most heard song of any of my other tracks!

What inspired you to write this release?

Melodic music has always been one of my favorite kinds of music to write. First thing I wanted to do was make a chord progression then vocal chops that can go with the progression. Once those 2 were figured out, it just motivated me to think to myself, I can hear 3 or 4 different versions of songs with this. And funny enough, I actually had 3 different styles of this song, different bpm, arrangement, etc. Once I had this final arrangement, I knew there was no way I can change it up again.

Describe the writing and recording process

I had the vocal chops patterned out already, as well as a chord progression, ended up looking for the best sounds for this project for the verse and the drop, and when I ended up with a solid 60% of an outline, I sent the rest to Middle Child and I sent my 60% to Virtualyx and they both went with their creativity! Once I heard the pre mix full outline, I was super happy with the process and only eager to hear the fully mixed & mastered version.

Any plans to hit the road?

Not as of yet, definitely still have a long way to go for me to achieve any kind of recognition.

Would love to do this in my future though!

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

Well I like to have my own style on things, signature sounds, I stick with an aesthetic on my artworks and my Soundcloud page. I take inspiration/motives from other artists to make my own original piece.

Who have you been listening to lately?

Lately I have been listening to Just A Gent, Illenium, Nurko, K?D, Petit Biscuit and so much more but this is only the electronic side of things, hip hop wise I like to listen to Brockhampton, Drake, Anderson .Paak, Benny The Butcher, and others. And even with alternative/rock music I always go with the classics like Switchfoot, My Chemical Romance, Rex Orange County, Seafret, System of a Down. I could keep naming bands/artists but the list would be endless.

Who are your biggest influences?

Illenium, K?D, Porter Robinson.

Tell us about your passions

I love listening to music, working on music, watching soccer, playing soccer, watching different anime’s and other shows and movies too (sitcoms, medieval times, war movies, comedies, etc).

What else is happening next in your world?

Have yet to make money off my music so still working a bunch, got 2 different jobs, so I don’t have much time as I would like to when it comes to working on music. But of course, that’s not going to stop me. Gotta keep going.

First of all, I would like to thank you for this second call to be your guest. It is a great honor for me to be featured in your magazine for the second time. So much has happened since our last interview. A couple of new songs were released, I was awarded from music Academia from Los Angeles (2019 Executive Award for Dance/Electro genre). It is also a nomination for the “IMA” Award NY, where I debated with a new song that I worked with a beautiful female vocal “Nelly Al Mahmud”. Unfortunately, we only came to a nomination, but it is one of the success I’m proud of. And there is a lot more, as you know, something always happens in the music world.

Talk to us more about your latest release

As I told you, it’s the song I performed for the nomination for “IMA” Award NY, in collaboration with “Nelly Al Mahmud”. The song is called “Seek and Hide”. What I did with joint forces with Nelly who sang a song, Bojan who worked on the arrangement, and with the lady mama who worked the text. I must say that we are all very satisfied that the entire project was finally released, and we have only positive comments from all sides, which is very pleased with us and gives us satisfaction for further strength and hard work.

What inspired you to write this release?

Well, it would now be a question for all of us who participated in the creation of this song (Marc Stan & Nelly Al Mahmud – Seek and Hide), and I believe that each of them would have a special feeling and emotion. Because when you write music or text, there must be some kind of emotion that guides you. Because I honestly think that all the melodies, or notes, or the text that is written without any emotion, have no real weight, and there is no such feeling that should be awakened by the listeners.

Describe the writing and recording process

Well, it’s a very complex process that does not just require you to sit in a studio and that’s it. There must be plenty of things to fit, and the most important thing is that I want every song I do have her soul, her story. I can not describe this, it comes out of me while I’m working on that song. As far as the recording process is concerned, it is a purely mechanical process, there is a channel mixer, effects, master.

Any plans to hit the road?

Well, I’m always on the road. It’s a life that requires a lot of renunciation, but it gives me great satisfaction. I’m often in clubs. Sometimes and four times a week. And in the meantime, I try to be in the studio and work on the following tracks.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

I always try to give my songs some personal signature that is different from others. I separate myself from the others when I’m in the club, then I show the audience what I want to present to them through my songs. At the club, on the stage, I make a connection with the audience and I always feel what they want and I always try to meet them. And by that, I am quite well known in clubs.

Who have you been listening to lately?

Tiesto is my favorite

Who are your biggest influences?

Music

Tell us about your passions

Oh, again.. MUSIC :)

What else is happening next in your world?

If you want to be honest, then the answer to this question is the same as the previous two. Music is my WORLD!

Thanks for an awesome interview, Marc Stan
