George Katsos is an adult contemporary musician from Alexandria, Virginia. In the 1980s, George attended the last night jam at the famous Cambridge Music Complex outside Boston the night before it was demolished. Local performers and members of groups such as Boston, Aerosmith, The Cars, and The J. Geils Band at times practiced there. The intrigue piqued George’s interest in becoming a live club performer. In 1988 his band was selected for regional college level exposure by MTV. A few years later his composition “Johnny Save The World” was a 7-inch vinyl record distributed nationally to college radio and highlighted by Billboard Magazine’s Larry Flick as ’Critic’s Choice of the Week’ reviewed along with Radiohead, Stone Temple Pilots, Jewel, and Led Zeppelin. Efforts that followed led to his side-B composition “Commitment” turning into a video shown nationally on the Fox Cable Network. George still records original music and makes rare appearances as a solo acoustic artist in the Washington DC area.

This destined commitment was likely what landed him in the Nebraska Performing Arts Hall of Fame alongside “The River City All-Stars” in 2020. The following year he was again honored as an inductee into the Nebraska Music Hall of Fame as a member of “The River City All-Stars”.

This revelation became the catalyst for “Where’s the Craic?” – a celebration of Sligo’s 500 musicians and the spontaneity of live performances in its pubs. The documentary, accompanied by the newly released soundtrack, showcases the essence of the Craic – the joy, music, and camaraderie that define the Irish spirit.

Lauren Hakulinen, the director, credits the magnetic influence of Arlo Guthrie which led her to Shoot the Crows pub where she discovered Sligo’s music scene. In a serendipitous encounter at Arlo Guthrie’s concert, Lauren met a friend of Arlo’s, fell into a conversation about falling in love with Ireland, the global economic crash, and other worldly things. Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany — After their promising debut „Miss you as a Friend“, Hamburg-based Americana-Band Sunset Mavericks released „A Leap of Faith“ on Friday, November 3rd.

The second original of the Band is a light singalong-number that extends the band’s range within the Americana genre. An added electric guitar brings a swing feel to the song, also the overall arrangement is set to fully serve the lead vocals of Lillemor Spitzer.

Once more, the Sunset Mavericks present a relatable story over a catchy melody. This time, it’s about entering a relationship whilst knowing this one won’t be easy, with one side playing mind games and the other side knowingly playing along. „A Leap of Faith“ represents the second song within a series of singles that are being published by the Sunset Mavericks over the course of several months. The first single „Miss you as a Friend“ received considerable airplay in the US as well as the UK and many other countries.

„It was a blast recording this one“, singer Lillemor Spitzer elaborates. „The story has actually taken place in a close friend’s life recently, so the writing came quite natural to us. We believe that many people can relate.“

The first single received nice reviews, for instance by Zoe Hodges, Editor of the UK-based Maverick Magazine: „They [Sunset Mavericks] are certainly one to keep a close eye on.“ Also, Radio DJs from many countries reacted encouranginly, exemplified here by Trudy Burke, WYN FM Radio, Australia: “Lots of competition about and this is different enough to play.“

Like “Miss you as a Friend”, the new single was produced in the German cities of Hamburg and Hannover and mastered at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London.
