John Greska previously has released work as an instrumental artist, specializing in the fusion of electronic and classical music. Other works include the instrumental albums Day to Day Thoughts and Life as an Ocean, which can both be found on all major music streaming sites.

Talk to us more about your latest release

Aiming At The Stars is John Greska’s debut vocal EP that uses instrumental concepts explored in his previous albums to bring a new edge to modern indie pop and alternative music. The EP itself tells the tale of the choice every person has between falling into the pattern of everyday life or risking that routine to follow their dreams.

What inspired you to write this release?

I was inspired by my previous instrumental releases and was encouraged to add lyrics to this release, describing the pieces as a description of everyday routine life and learning to enjoy every second of it.

Describe the writing and recording process

The writing process involves coming up with several different tunes, creating the backing track, and then recording the vocals. It helps when the mailman is not around because the dogs will bark when he is delivering for a long time!

Any plans to release a video?

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

To stand out from the rest of the artists out there, I try to brand myself with the inclusion of orchestral and classical instruments on top of synthesized electronic instruments.

Who have you been listening to lately?

I have been listening to Chapel, Kidhimself, and Rainbow Kitten Surprise.

Who are your biggest influences?

My biggest influences include AJR and Jon Bellion.

Tell us about your passions

I’m very passionate about my dogs Scruffy and Lulu. They’re laying down right next to me as I type this.

What else is happening next in your world?

The coronavirus is happening right now. In terms of my specific world, I’m watching Season 2 of Ozark. That’s pretty good.
